Speaker 1:

Welcome to the Tea with Tina, your favorite podcast, where we talk all things health, fitness, lifestyle, and maybe a little bit of tea gets spilled. We chat all about this in a super casual environment. So grab your beverage of choice, sit back, relax and enjoy. Relax and enjoy. Hey, friends, popping in for a podcast episode, I wanted this one to be a little bit more relaxed. Um, I just want to share some of the things that I've been doing, some fun things as well as.

Speaker 1:

Um, I did talk about the holiday season a couple episodes ago and it's weird. I don't know why it happens, for me at least. I don't know if it's subliminal um, but I was like really confident going into the holiday season. Like right after um Halloween, I was like I'm feeling good about the holidays, I'm feeling excited. And then, as November carried on, the busy, chaotic energy happened not necessarily with me, but I don't know just something about the idea of that. You have to show up for things like I have to cook Thanksgiving dinner and we gotta do this and you know you gotta buy presents, and everybody just seems like they're running around and like doing these things because they have to and for some reason, the energy always drains me and makes me sad and, uh, I don't know I just it gets me out of the mood. Like I like like Christmas lights, christmas music, I love eating Thanksgiving dinner, I love the movies and the vibes, but for some reason the past couple years it's just been making me feel like blah, like man, like sad for people that they have to like. Kind of like it just feels like people are like showing up for things that they don to like. Kind of like it just feels like people are like showing up for things that they don't really want to do. They're just doing it because they feel like they have to do it. Um, and I've talked about this many times and I just don't know why that happens to me, but it does so. So we're gonna see going through the holidays. Um, in a couple episodes ago too, I was kind of um playing around and I said you know you got to set your intentions going into the holidays and stick to them, right?

Speaker 1:

Do you want to stick to your goals? Do you want to lay off the breaks and just take a break completely? Um, do you want to maintain, like, what is your goals? And I will say I'm going to reflect on that a little bit here. I went in with the intention of hey, you know, I'm feeling good, I'm going to push through a little bit, I want to do a challenge for my clients. And then, I don't know, I just again the drained energy came in and I was like you know what, we're gonna keep it simple. So I am going to be doing a um, like 12 days of fitness kind of program and it's free. There'll be a chance to win some gift cards in there. It's free to everybody. My clients get a little bit, something extra, but, um, I'll be doing that early December.

Speaker 1:

But I don't know, I just feel like maybe I was pushing through. I felt like um, between some health issues that happened with my family, um, I got sick pretty bad in like late September and that really threw me off. I mean, I feel fine now but just the I don't know why it just like threw me off my routine. Um, we got a kitten, you know. There was just like. It was like one thing after the other. Um, and I got really busy work and with my work and I just feel like I've been like grinding, grinding, grinding, chugging, chugging, chugging, with not a lot of time to catch my breath and, um, I feel like I've been like, uh, just pushing through, pushing through which I do believe it's fine to push through sometimes but for me it kind of got to the point where, um, the pushing through started to drain me, um, I started to get more resentful, more easily aggravated, and that's when you know it's time for a break, when little simple things start to aggravate you and you just need a break. I'm trying to be more preventative, so I did take a week off of work, very thankful of the ability to do that, because not all of us do. I'm still doing behind the scenes stuff like more creative work that I necessarily didn't have time to do and things that I've been putting off.

Speaker 1:

We're going to maybe take a couple days away, because that is another thing that I think put us on edge. Every two to three months we like to take a trip, but due to all that stuff going on, it wasn't in the cards, whether it be time, or things were crazy expensive or the weather wasn't cooperating, it just didn't work out for one reason or another. So we haven't really formally been able to take some time, truly time away, and that has been very important for our mental health, just to explore, get away, be in a different space, not think about work, uh, be in a different community, visit different things, just be free. I, I and it's not for everybody, but I just enjoy road tripping, trying fun new things in little towns, um, new food, playing around, relaxing. I always come back feeling recharged from those types of trips, um, so we have that going on. Um, so hopefully I will feel better with that.

Speaker 1:

I was hesitant with my decision because obviously we live in America. It's, you know, hustle culture all day. You know if you're sick they make you feel guilty for taking a day off. But everybody was very understanding, everybody was very kind and nice. But you know I always feel bad because you're like out of your routine and it's like nothing severe. You know you didn't lose an arm, you're not super sick, you know it's not like a crazy reason, but I do believe it is important to take time for your mental health.

Speaker 1:

And it goes back to my theory of particularly with moms, moms who always run themselves into the ground and they're like my children come first, my husband comes first. I got to put myself last, I don't want to do anything for me, they come first and it's like, well, yes, but if you run yourself into the ground, they're getting an exhausted, stressed out, angry version of you, and that's kind of how I was feeling. It's like I don't want to give my clients, my class people, my husband, my family, my kitties. I don't want to give anybody the worst version of me, the tired version of me, the short, pissed off version of me. I want the well-rested, healthy, top of mind person. And you know it's the holidays, people are going to be a little more all over the place, um, with traveling, and they're not going to be as adherent. So for me as a trainer, it works out a little bit as well, um, to kind of ease back and just kind of go with the flow with everybody else as well. It's kind of like during vacation season, as a personal trainer, if everybody else is on vacation, you might as well take a vacation too, right? So so we have all of that Um, and yeah, I just I definitely need this. I'm hoping that it will help.

Speaker 1:

But, with that being said, I have definitely been big chilling and that means playing a lot of Sims. So this is where the personal, like just kind of chit chat comes in. But I just wanted to kind of explain that and hopefully, like, maybe this encourages you to big, chill a little bit, take that break. But I've definitely been playing some sims, which is fun for me. I love it, love building. I've been really playing in there, which you know, um, if any of you have ever played sims, you know you just kind of like play for three days straight and then don't touch it for like two years, but for me I've been playing a good bit. I've been playing video games, um, that's another like just outlet for me.

Speaker 1:

I've been watching the menendez brothers, which I'm a little late to the game. Um, I'm not watching the documentary, I'm watching the ryan murphy um, I don't know what you would call it. I know there's a word for it, um, but it was. I think I didn't realize it was a part of a series. It's the monsters, the menendez brothers. Uh, he made the jeffrey dahmer one as well, which I really enjoyed. I know it was a little controversial, um, but I enjoyed it. I do love Evan Peters, um, as an actor as well, and it was great. Um, there's apparently a third installment, but they did not announce who it would be about. But, um, the Menendez brothers.

Speaker 1:

I knew nothing about the story. All I knew was that they killed their parents and there was actually a picture of them at, like, I think, a basketball game on a card, like a card of the player. If you look in the background you'll see them, and I think that was after the night they killed their parents or something like that, I don't know. So it was the night they killed their parents. It was crazy. So I'm kind of seeing the story which, the way it's playing out. I don't know so, um, it was the night they killed their parents. It was crazy. So I'm kind of seeing the story which, the way it's playing out, I don't know how accurate it is. I know the jeffrey dommer one was pretty accurate to what happened in real life. They were trying to be pretty accurate.

Speaker 1:

I heard some I didn't look into it too much but I heard some accusations that, um, you know it wasn't necessarily true to who the boys were as people, but I don't know. Um, it's interesting how they're playing this out, though, because it's like you're seeing things from the brothers perspectives, um, and then you're seeing things from other perspectives and it's like you believe one thing and then you see it again and you're like wait, who's lying? Is somebody lying? Like? So it's crazy. I'm, I, uh, I think it's nine episodes and I'm on episode six or seven, but it's really, really good.

Speaker 1:

Um, the acting's great, I love the vibe, the music, the time period, it's good, uh, but I all I do know in real life is the menendez brothers are still in jail, so they did not receive the death penalty. I don't think, um, I think they were supposed to be retried. Uh, I don't know if it was because of this whole thing or it was just kind of like good timing, uh, but I'm curious because I want to finish this, to kind of make my own opinion, because there's a lot of stories like this, uh, cases like this, where things happen and they go through the court and, uh, you know what really happened. You may know, never know what truly happened or the way evidence is presented. Sometimes they withhold important evidence. Um, evidence is messed with. You know, it just depends on the situation.

Speaker 1:

If you enjoy that kind of stuff, one that I would really recommend and it's a commitment is the Staircase on Netflix. This guy he was a veteran and he was an author Pretty wealthy, relaxed guy, easygoing guy. He had children, and him and his wife were drinking one night Like some wine in their house and she fell down the stairs, hence the Staircase. Drinking one night like some wine in their house and she fell down the stairs, hence the staircase, and just the way the scene was, with like the blood. Um, they have the 911 call of him. But pretty much the argument was did he push her or did she fall? And it's a crazy story. I still don't really know what to believe. I could see it going either way. Um, but it's a really good watch if you want to see that and how the court system and the evidence and and different sides of the story. It's really really good um, so I've been watching that.

Speaker 1:

That's another way for me to zone out. I think video games. For me it takes a little bit more mental effort, in my opinion, because you're thinking you're problem solving, um, you know, even with sims, sometimes you're role playing and building and things like that. Um, tv shows, I definitely get the opportunity to zone out more and kind of just shut my brain off and enjoy. Um, and for me it's just what mood I'm in, like, sometimes I'm in the mood for scary, sometimes I'm in the mood for action. Sometimes I'm in the mood for something cheesy, where I know it's like terrible, but I just enjoy watching it.

Speaker 1:

Um, I'm actually not that into anime, but another thing that I enjoyed recently that I just finished up the first season, which it's a cliffhanger, guys, just so you know, but it's like 24 episodes. It's called delicious in dungeon, so it's an anime, but I would say I would compare it to like like pokemon anime, so it's it's um more for a wider audience. I feel like like it's nothing like crazy, um, but it's in english and it's it's fun. It's like kind of like dungeons and dragons meets anime meets. They cook the monsters into fun dishes. It's, it's good and there's there's a whole backstory, um, but apparently they're gonna make a second season, so, um, it's good, so that's something else.

Speaker 1:

And then and then I feel like for a long time we haven't had like, with the rise of streaming services and just the internet, I feel like we all haven't necessarily had community events like over TV. That's something that I missed from the pre-internet to pre-streaming era. Right, like you know, you only had a set amount of channels and it's like when a movie premiered on a channel, like everybody knew about it or when there was a special or a game like everybody knew about it. Right, and I'm very happy with the exception, I would say, to maybe like sometimes some Netflix stuff, because Netflix was kind of like the OG streaming service, like Stranger Things, tiger King, during the lockdown. So there's some more cultural, cultural events, like some bigger ones, but some of it still feels like niche right, like like, uh, your friend will be really into this anime and there's an anime sector and then, and then someone else will be into this scary movie and then someone else is into this big box action movie and that's cool. You know, I love that.

Speaker 1:

We're able to kind of like express ourselves and, if you like, really love like one random, very specific thing. There's something out there for you and there probably is like a little community for it. Like I love the fallout show this year, uh, the fallout tv show, because fallout has been a big part of my gaming uh life. I I love fallout, um, I grew up on it and I just love the vibe and the story and the lore and the fact that they made the TV show made me really happy. But that's like one that, like you know, I think everybody can kind of like at least in that mini community can come together and it brought some people who didn't play the game into the world and they started playing the game. So that was fun. But so we have that. But, um, so we have that.

Speaker 1:

But yeah, I think that's something that has been missing for a while has been these big kind of community events, and that's something I enjoy and I'm glad that we were able to kind of bring that energy back, including social media and the internet. Um, and with that I'm gonna say football and um, I'm going to say the Mike Tyson and Jake Paul fight. So I love that. Like, like, um, football, they're gonna be streaming, uh, the Christmas game, which is Steelers and the Chiefs, so that'll be fun.

Speaker 1:

Um, but like big things like that where everybody tunes in and then you kind of hop on and you experience it, and then you hop on social media and like you see the memes and like you're like, oh my god, I thought the same thing, like the the jake paul mike tyson fight was probably the funniest one, because you know I was like this will be cool, like this is fun, like I'm not into boxing at all, but like I know jake paul and I know mike tyson, so like, let's, let's watch it. It's on netflix. Um, it was like buffering the whole time. The quality was terrible. Um, mike tyson showed his butt cheeks at one point, like there was a couple different memes.

Speaker 1:

Uh, jake paul coming out slow-mo in like a car, um to I feel it coming in the air tonight. Uh, and, and it's funny because we experienced it in real time and we were laughing and making jokes. And then we hopped on social media and everybody was making memes about the same things. And it's funny how we always we share the same experiences and we point out similar things. The same things stick out to us. There was one I forget what it was in particular, but one guy made a joke about it and I was laughing because I was like that's so funny that they thought the same thing we did and in a way, it's a way to connect and I really enjoy that. Um, even like blockbuster movies and things, um, different big shows, that always makes me excited when there's something that we can all kind of collectively get really excited about, like, like Star Wars, right when Star Wars 7 came out, like it was such a big gap between six and seven, but everybody was really really excited and like it was a big thing and everybody dressed up and you know it was so fun. I'm getting goosebumps just talking about it, but, um, that has been something I've been enjoying a lot lately.

Speaker 1:

Um, same thing with football. I could be an outlier here. It could be me because, um, I just started watching a little bit, but it feels like me, at least I can get into football if I can identify with players and and um, for me, the Chiefs, obviously, because they are were undefeated. They are not anymore, but they were undefeated. They won the super bowl. You know, um, you have mahomes, patrick mahomes, and you have a t swift's boyfriend there and, like, you have some people that you can kind of identify with and you're like, okay, like I know who you are.

Speaker 1:

Um and same with the steelers. The steelers has always kind of had that vibe. You know, you have the terrible towels. Um, they have some marketing around them, but I grew up watching them when they were in, going to the Super Bowl and things like that in the early to mid 2000s. So that was a really fun time and I feel like they were like in a rebuilding era for a couple years, and now they're coming back and like they've had a really great season so far and it's been really exciting to watch and get back into it and like see them play.

Speaker 1:

And, honestly, I've been watching just some random football games and you know, the games have been good, they've been close and I've been getting really into it, even if I didn't know who the players were. Um, it's been fun to see. So, um, yeah, I've been getting into that. And even hockey. I don't watch necessarily professional hockey, but I'll watch, like the minor league games, like in person I'll go, and that's been fun to watch as well. So, you know, that's kind of what's been going on. That's some things I've been doing. Um, just some random thoughts I wanted to share with you guys. I really enjoy these kind of podcasts every now and then, so I think I'm gonna wrap this one up, though I hope you enjoyed my little chit chat, uh, my little chill, chill time to rest and recharge, and I hope that encourages you to do the same. However, whatever way suits you, whatever feels good to you, and, um, I think that's all for now. All right, have a great rest of your day and I'll chat with you soon.
