What if the real battle isn't the workout, but simply showing up? Join me on the Tea with Tina podcast as we explore the liberating yet daunting truth that no one is coming to save you—only you hold the power to transform your life. As both a loving coach and a relentless truth-teller, I share how the journey of change starts in the mind where fear and vulnerability often freeze us in place. Overcome those mental blocks and discover how even the simplest actions, like walking through the gym doors or sipping on water, can set a powerful precedent for lasting change.

This episode dives deep into the essence of self-accountability, emphasizing how progress in any aspect of life is rooted in the decision to show up consistently. Learn why the most accommodating environments and plans are ineffective unless you commit to making them work. From exercising to stress management, it's about moving past the discomfort and showing up for yourself, because when you do, you can truly begin to transform. Let's challenge ourselves to confront the pain of stagnation and push through it—because the journey of a thousand miles begins with that brave first step.

Speaker 1:

Hey guys, welcome back to another episode of the Tea with Tina podcast. Just wanted to come on for a thought that popped into my head and a little bit of tough love, but nobody is going to save you. That may sound harsh, but nobody is coming to save you. I will tell you that as somebody who is a very loving, empathetic coach and does everything in her power to help people. It is true when they say you know you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink. You can make them really, really, really thirsty, but you ultimately can't make them drink. And what that means is that the decision to change and move forward and show up is on you, and that can be hard.

Speaker 1:

Taking the first step is hard and a lot of it 99% of it is in your mind. Your mind is blowing things out of proportion, telling you you can't do this, you don't have enough time, You're afraid, You're vulnerable and you almost feel frozen. But if you can shove all that down, you know metaphorically, if you work out at home but, for instance, walking through the doors of the gym is winning over 50% of the battle. Once you do that and once you're there, the likelihood that you're actually going to do a workout goes up extremely. The hardest part is walking through those doors. The hardest part is setting up for your at-home workout and getting it done. But you know what, Once you do it once, twice, 10 times, 30 times, 100 times, nine plus years, like me Well, actually we're going on like 13 years if we count working out, not just being a trainer it gets easier. Not saying you don't have shitty days, not saying you don't feel like garbage sometimes or self-conscious sometimes, but the ability to push past those feelings gets easier and you just show up like you're brushing your teeth, like you have to do the dishes, like you have to go to work. You just show up and do it because it something you need to do. Going back to the nobody can save you.

Speaker 1:

The reason I'm saying this is because I do try my damnedest and sometimes I maybe try a little bit too much. I might have clients that are constantly canceling or rescheduling or maybe they have very unique situations going on and I'm usually very adaptive to that and I'm patient with that. But I've noticed that no matter how much I accommodate, unless they make the decision to show up, unfortunately they're not going to progress. I can create the perfect environment for them and I hope that that makes the situation easier. But ultimately, again, you have to decide to show up. You have to decide that, hey, I'm going to do the workouts Like, I can provide the workouts, I can provide the most amazing nutrition plan in the world and it's worthless if you don't show up and do it.

Speaker 1:

That's why I just encourage people to start simple. It may sound stupid to just, you know, drink your water or, you know, walk 10 minutes. You know, because you're like, oh well, I want to do a full blown workout, but I'm telling you, just show up, put the reps in, because you're laughing, everybody's sitting on the couch, you're pushing past that discomfort and it will pay off, but nobody's going to do it for you. We can set it up. I can come to your house, drag you out of your house, we can sit in the gym together.

Speaker 1:

But if you don't make the decision to move your body, if you don't make the decision to buy the healthier food, prep the meals, rest better, manage your stress, it's not going to happen. So you have to make the decision and, unfortunately, the reason we often don't make that decision is because the pain of where we're at isn't great enough. Yet that's sad. The pain of the situation we're at is not great enough to make us want to change. Why is it when smokers have a hole in their throat where they have a little device, but they still continue to smoke? And they have cancer but they'll still continue to smoke? A diabetic that has his leg chopped off? He still continues to drink sugar or consume sugar. There's a lot of reasons for that. Some of it may be mental, Some of it may be willpower, Some of it could actually truly be a chemical imbalance.

Speaker 1:

But I always lead back to the foundations of being a healthy human Moving your body, Managing stress, Getting enough rest and recovery, treating yourself first, being the best you so you can show up as your best self for everybody else, Feeding your body with nourishing foods. You have to give yourself a fighting chance. You can't really make an educated decision unless you set a good foundation first, because you'll never know how you truly feel, and many of us have adapted to the crappy situations that we put ourselves in. Whether it's super high stress, you know we're just running around too much, not getting enough sleep. It's just become our new normal that we're not even aware it's damaging us.

Speaker 1:

So, you know, my tip for you is if you're feeling stuck, if you're feeling like you can't get moving, start with something simple Make the choice. Push through the discomfort Because just start, Just get the ball rolling and again decide that you're going to make that choice Because no one else is going to do it for you. Okay, and with that I think I'm going to wrap that up. Just a little thought for you guys. I hope you have a great rest of your
